Our History
Heatwave Athletics was founded by Destinee Boone, a passionate creative and coach with a deep love for sports and storytelling. With over four years of experience in the design industry and sports marketing, Destinee saw a growing need for high-quality media coverage that truly highlights athletes' hard work, skill, and dedication. Combining her background in coaching, photography, and digital marketing, she created Heatwave Athletics to elevate athletes and teams through media, branding, and exposure.
What started as a personal passion for capturing game-winning moments and behind-the-scenes stories quickly grew into a full-scale sports media platform. From high school gyms to national tournaments, Heatwave Athletics has been committed to giving athletes the visibility they need to take their careers to the next level. Whether through dynamic photography, videography, or PR management, the goal has always been the same: to help athletes get noticed and celebrated.
Under Destinee’s leadership, Heatwave Athletics has expanded its reach, working with teams, coaches, and programs nationwide. Her experience as a coach and creative professional gives her a unique perspective on what athletes and organizations need to thrive—both on and off the court.

My teams
At Heatwave Athletics, our strength lies in the people behind the brand. Founded by Destinee Boone, a dedicated coach, designer, and media specialist, our team is built on a passion for sports, storytelling, and athlete development. More than just a media and marketing platform, Heatwave Athletics is a community that supports athletes at every level.
Destinee Boone currently coaches at the middle school and high school levels, playing a key role in shaping young athletes’ skills, discipline, and leadership on and off the court. She has been instrumental in restarting a middle school basketball program that had been inactive for over a decade, bringing energy and growth back to the team. Additionally, she has contributed to a high school program that has built a championship-level culture, helping develop future stars.
Heatwave Athletics is also excited to introduce our upcoming AAU team, the Virginia Underdogs. This program is designed to provide young athletes with greater opportunities to compete at a high level, gain exposure, and showcase their talent to college recruiters and beyond. With a focus on player development, teamwork, and competitive excellence, the Virginia Underdogs are set to make a powerful impact on the AAU circuit.
Beyond our own teams, we proudly partner with teams nationwide, providing professional media coverage, branding, and promotional content to enhance their visibility. From high school programs to AAU and collegiate teams, Heatwave Athletics is committed to helping athletes and organizations maximize their potential through top-tier sports media and marketing.
